Global collaboration fosters important advancements in the treatment of kidney disease

Baxter Novum is a Baxter-supported research center of excellence that is focused on improving outcomes in ESRD. It is a division of the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden, a globally recognized medical research facility. Baxter Novum brings together top scientists from around the world to collaborate on important research topics relevant to clinicians as well as scientists. In this way, Baxter Novum provides a unique link between the worlds of academia, clinical medicine and industry to promote the improvement of kidney disease therapy. The faculty at Baxter Novum also guest lecture around the world and mentor new scientists in the plan and conduct of research and the peer communication of findings.

In 2006:

  • Scientists at Baxter Novum published more than 30 papers and more than 40 abstracts in peer reviewed scientific journals
  • Baxter Novum hosted six visiting scientists from five countries
  • Baxter Novum visiting scientist Dr. Keisuke Matsubara was the recipient of a Young Investigator Award from the International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis in recognition of his outstanding original research
