Renal Discoveries Extramural Grant Program

Promoting global innovation in ESRD therapy

$29 million in funding for independent research in 22 different countries since 1989

Renal Discoveries, Baxter's Extramural Grant Program (EGP), awards grants for innovation, exploration and application research to advance the knowledge of kidney disease and its treatment. Its aim is to accelerate research in the fields of dialytic therapies, chronic kidney disease, and co-morbidities associated with ESRD. The program is unique in that it awards grants in two specific areas: Operating Grants for patient oriented-research, and Fellowship Training Grants to support full-time training for a fellow in nephrology research. An independent Medical Advisory Board selects grant winners.

  • Four grants are awarded globally each year, one each in Asia/Pacific, Latin America, North America and Europe/Middle East/Russia regions
  • Grant recipients receive up to $375,000 over three years
  • These grants enable:
    • Scientific researchers to pursue broad, long-term, basic and applied studies
    • Nephrology fellows to work in a rich academic environment and receive high quality training
